About Bent Mat Yoga

This Is How My Story Began

I have always been an active person. Running was a passion with high jump and swimming thrown in for fun when I was younger. Walking, diving, sailing and renovations as an adult.

A car accident in 2006, left me and my car broken; turns out I have two fractured vertebrae that were never diagnosed, I needed to find something to keep me mobile.

I started with a very physical power type yoga that spoke to my ego. Then my body started needing more care from me, my ankles and knees were getting sprained multiple times a week, and so I looked deeper into understanding how to support my body.

Now I am a firm believer in the supportive, healing and corrective alignment approach of Iyengar Yoga and have been practicing this method ever since. I began my mentorship, which led to my Iyengar teacher training, in 2014.

I am forever grateful for my mentor Krisna Zawaduk, for the knowledge Eileen Millar shared, Louie Ettling & Patricia Fernandes for their training expertise, and the teachers that came before them.

For you I am forever grateful.

A certified Iyengar Yoga teacher. A process that begins with 2 years mentorship and then a minimum of 3 years training to accomplish.

Iyengar Teacher apprenticeship is rigorous and spans a three to five year period in which teachers follow a program based on an international syllabus and standards set by Sri B.K.S. Iyengar.

I have served on the board of the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association Vancouver, volunteering my time to promote and share ideas to help further Iyengar Yoga and its benefits.

I currently serve on the Assessment Round Table of IYAC, Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada.
